The Rules of COCKTAIL HOUR

Cocktail hour is sacred. Cocktail hour is nothing less than an event....a ritual.

No, I am not talking about grabbing a beer after mowing the lawn. I’m not talking about slamming a whiskey after a long day at work.

I am talking about the ritual…the event…the ceremony…of COCKTAIL HOUR.

If you are not adhering to these five simple rules, then you are NOT having a true COCKTAIL HOUR.

Rule #1: SET THE MOOD – Close the curtains. Dim the lights. Create an ambience. Put the glare of the day behind…COCKTAIL HOUR is about to begin.

Rule #2: TURN OFF THE TECHNOLOGY – No television and no cell phones!! Be gone with the distractions. Something far more important than the news or the big game is about to occur. Focus on the precious 60 minutes that is COCKTAIL HOUR.

Rule #3: PICK THE PERFECT SOUNDTRACK – Like every great movie, a great COCKTAIL HOUR needs the perfect soundtrack. Think Dean Martin. Think Frank Sinatra. But remember, the soundtrack is part of the supporting cast…not the star of the show.

Rule #4: CHANGE YOUR CLOTHES – You have been busy and working all day. Take a few extra minutes to change into something comfortable, yet stylish. It’s really not that difficult.

Rule #5: CONSIDER YOUR TOPICS OF CONVERSATION – There are 23 other hours in the day for you to complain about your many trials and tribulations. COCKTAIL HOUR is dedicated to the rich bounty of life. Use it to reminisce about great times or plan the next big adventure.

These are not guidelines…these ARE rules…anything else is just not right!! You may now proceed to COCKTAIL HOUR.

CHEERS!!
