The Cloister at Sea Island
In 1928, “a little friendly hotel” opened on the southern coast of Georgia. The Cloister at Sea Island is the only resort in the world to achieve four Forbes Five-Stars nine years in a row. With its southern charm, beauty, and hospitality, The Cloister is a place that may not soon, or perhaps never be, forgotten. The fun and adventure is waiting at every turn, from afternoon tea and cookies in the atrium, to fine dining establishments, and outdoor activities.
“Breathtaking”; “a fantasy come true”; these are a few emotions one experiences upon entering a suite at the Beach Club at Cloisters. Spacious and the sweetest of suites, the view is spectacular, from the pool, and beyond to the sands of the Atlantic Ocean, and the swaying trees. Enjoy the feeling of the cool breezes in Sea Island that make you feel relaxed and yet excited to get started on your adventure.
EAT
Georgian Room
It is the only Forbes Five Star restaurant in Georgia, and a AAA Five Diamond restaurant. As you partake in this culinary experience, along with wine pairings by your sommelier, make sure to soak in the grand décor from the chandeliers, to the hand painted china, and European linens. Perusing the world-class wine list is an experience in and of itself.
Tavola
This Italian eatery is quite authentic, rustic in style, and has a river view. The pasta is homemade, and you can watch the chef toss dough through the air. Squisito!
River Bar & Lounge
This is a place of simple elegance with a more relaxed atmosphere. Delightful dishes combined with beers on tap, an extensive list of wines by the glass, single-malt scotches, and a fine selection of bourbon and whiskey; all make for a great lunch or dinner. Try a cigar from the extensive collection in the Cigar Room next to River Bar.
Colt & Allison
Set inside Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star “The Lodge” at Sea Island Golf Club, this is the place to go for a classic steakhouse experience. Leave room for the amazing side dishes. Delicious!
PLAY
Guided Deep Sea Fishing
Don’t forget to take your hats and sunscreen. And feel free to bring your lunch and your beverage of choice, possibly even an adult beverage. After all, you are not driving the boat.
Horseback Riding
Where else, but on the beach? Ride along the coast and soak in the breeze and beautiful scenery.
Clay Target Shooting
This is a treasured tradition at Sea Island. Make sure to take private lessons at the shooting school, which ranks among the nation’s best.
Rent A Bike
Cruise the island on your bike and see some of the most beautiful neighborhoods in Sea Island, where mature trees are rooted on one side of the street and its branches grow and sway clear to the other side.
