Wildcatters love museums. Museums, by their very nature, are expressions of the unique, the remarkable, the spectacular!! The Network has experienced museums throughout the world, and one rises to the pinnacle greatness and has earned the honor of Wildcatter’s Seal of Approval.
The National WWII Museum in New Orleans, Louisiana opened in June 6, 2000, on the 56th anniversary of D-Day. Their website summarizes the museum quite well:
Offering a compelling blend of sweeping narrative and poignant personal detail, The National WWII Museum features immersive exhibits, multimedia experiences, and an expansive collection of artifacts and first-person oral histories, taking visitors inside the story of the war that changed the world.
While the National WWII Museum has a multitude of exhibits, tours, and programs, the single most important “MUST SEE” in the museum is the 4-D journey through the war with the almost indescribable film Beyond All Boundaries. Played in the Solomon Victory Theater, this movie is narrated by Tom Hanks and has chilling actual footage from the war with voiceovers by such stars as Kevin Bacon, John Goodman, and Tobey Maguire.
Just to experience this movie is reason enough to go to the museum…better yet, this movie alone is reason enough to visit New Orleans.
