Fulfilling a need in our daily lives: "the Travelocity of Media"

Not long ago, there was basically only one way to access in-home movie entertainment… go to Blockbuster, or a similar store, and rent the DVD. Now, there is Netflix, Amazon, iTunes, Hulu, and many more. The way consumers access movies and other entertainment has become extremely fragmented.

This gave MediaHound’s Founder and CEO Addison McCaleb the original idea to build-out the “Travelocity of Media”, consolidating the various platforms that offer movies and TV shows for consumers. Seeing a larger opportunity, that platform grew into The Entertainment Graph, a comprehensive entertainment platform complete with unparalleled recommendation tools.

McCaleb originally planned to use The Entertainment Graph to power a consumer-facing phone app. However, once he started testing the market, he found there was a huge demand for the technology, especially among cable companies, so he began focusing on licensing the technology on a business-to-business basis.

MediaHound’s technology has won numerous awards, including multiple W3 Silver Awards and two Webby Awards (the People’s Voice Award and Judges Choice). They have also recently completed a program called UpRamp, which connects promising tech startups with a consortium of cable companies. The UpRamp program has produced some very exciting connections, business partnerships, and potential acquisition opportunities.
