Napa Valley is full of wonderful wineries, so when one stands out among the 400 plus wineries, it must be special. Hall Wines, owned by Craig and Kathryn Hall, has two locations, HALL St. Helena and HALL Rutherford. These wineries have much to brag about, including, five certified organic estates, advanced technology practices such as a digital optical machine for grape selections, visually stunning art, and most importantly, their award winning wines.
The Halls are also champions of the sustainability of the environment and were the first LEED® Gold Certified winery in California. They are committed to the environment and use cutting edge technology to save, protect, and sustain their estates by using solar panels and 100% recycled water. All of this care must be a factor in creating these award winning wines.
Known for their Cabernet Sauvignons, over 140 HALL wines have been rated 90 points and above, with their 2010 ‘Exzellenz’ earning a perfect 100 points by Robert Parker.
The Halls are lifelong art collectors who share their passion throughout their wineries. Both HALL Rutherford and HALL St. Helena have spectacular art pieces scattered from the vineyards to the wine caves.
One can not miss the huge “Bunny Foo-Foo” stainless steel sculpture by artist Lawrence Argent, located in the middle of the vineyard. The nursery tune was sung by owner Kathryn Hall to her children and there, amongst the grape vines, leaps the “bunny”.
But the pièce de résistance is the “Chilean Red” chandelier by Donald Lipski and Jonquil LeMaster. Breathtaking, this piece mimics an inverted grape vine root system and is embellished with 1,500 Swarovski crystals. It is beautifully reflected in the illuminated onyx running the length of the cherry wood banquet style table beneath it. This room is used for private wine tastings, dinners, and special wine events.
