Ingredients:
- 1 lb of chopped beef liver or chicken hearts-thawed
- 1 can (12-14.5 oz. ) of low-sodium chicken broth
- 1 1/2 cups of whole wheat flour
- 1/2 cup of smooth peanut-butter * recommend-Homeplate Peanut Butter-dog friendly
- 1 teaspoon of baking soda
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 325º
- Cook liver or hearts in chicken broth for 6-8 minutes.
- Transfer with slotted spoon to food processor & add 1/2 of the cooking broth. Whirl & mix. Add 1/2 cup more of liquid, 1 1/2 cups of wheat flour, peanut butter, and baking soda. Pulse until moistened.
- Roll dough on lightly floured surface & add a little cooking broth if needed. Dough will be stiff but moist.
- Cut with bone shaped, or any shape cookie cutter, and place on parchment lined cookie sheet.
- Cook for approximately 18-20 minutes; depending on oven.
- Remove from oven & let cool.
- Will keep for about 2 weeks or freeze for three month.
