Liz Lambert: Hotelier Extraordinaire

Words by Caroline Spain

Liz Lambert is a well-rounded chameleon of the hospitality industry. Her presence is important to both locals and the sweeping renaissance of new hospitality groups settling into Austin currently. Her role remains somewhere in the middle. Liz holds loyalty to preserving the unique and organically quirky atmosphere that old austinites built while embracing the transformation overtaking the city. Ultimately change is good, but so is authenticity- Liz has mastered the balance of both.

Liz’s journey into the hotel industry began with her polarizing Hotel San Jose project. She purchased the hotel for a comically small sum compared to today’s price tags and ran it herself from the front desk while waiting on the hefty investments needed to transform it. Years later, Liz has become a household name amongst the hospitality industry in Austin. Notable hotels under Liz’s belt include Hotel Saint Cecilia (Austin), Austin Motel, and El Cosmico (Marfa).

Liz recently made the switch from Bunkhouse Group, an organization she founded, to the newly rebranded McGuire Moorman Lambert Hospitality (MMLH). MMLH provides development, design, and management for the founders of thirteen restaurants, some of Austin’s most notable venues for cuisine and beverage. Recently, the hospitality group has adopted a new project, The Hotel Saint Vincent.

The creative design of The Hotel Saint Vincent is the brainchild of both Liz Lambert and her team. The hotel is the perfect symbiotic relationship between the rugged and unhinged energy of New Orleans and its lofty elegance. Liz’s reputation is largely built upon her impeccable ability to read the energy of a city or neighborhood and embed it into her conquests. The Hotel Saint Vincent is a testament to this skill set. The hotel is being developed in the former St. Vincent Guest House, a historic Lower Garden District landmark that served as a budget-friendly hotel and hostel prior to its rebrand. The hotel will feature two MMLH-owned restaurants, one of which is the beloved and wildly popular Elizabeth Street Café, a Vietnamese restaurant that doubles as a French bakery. The Hotel is estimated to launch in the Spring of 2021.

As an investor, we are so looking forward to the opening of Liz’s newest project. Read more about Hotel Saint Vincent here.
