Habits Of Successful Wildcatters: Time Management

Wildcatters know the single most valuable asset we possess is TIME.

Our Most Valuable Asset

There are a wide variety of asset classes…cash, real estate, stocks, bonds, art, jewelry. However, Wildcatters know the single most valuable asset we possess is TIME.

“TIME = life; therefore, waste your time and waste of your life, or master your time and master your life.”

-Alan Lakein

With such a valuable asset as TIME, why is it that so many people take it for granted. Oddly, many people place more value on their cash than on their time, even though we all know you can make more cash…but you can never make more time.

“Time is what we want most, but what we use worst.”

-William Penn

Successful Wildcatters are intent on squeezing the most that life has to offer out of the little time we have hear on earth. It takes effort and it takes focus. Once a conscious strategy is employed on improving TIME management, it becomes habit forming. It is amazing how much can be accomplished when you make it your mission harness your days.

“The common man is not concerned about the passage of time, the man of talent is driven by it.”

-Shoppenhauer

A great starting point for establishing a successful time management system is to consider how you currently spend your TIME. Think of the last week; think of the last month. How many hours did you spend watching television? Social media? Obsessing over political matters you have no control over? Watching, reading, or talking about a sporting event that strangely seemed OH SO IMPORTANT???

Now consider what could have been accomplished with that TIME. What unfinished goals and dreams could have been pursued? Health improvement? Professional advancement? Interpersonal relationship building? If TIME truly is our most valuable commodity, shouldn’t we treat is with the respect it deserves??

“The key is in not spending time, but in investing it.”

-Stephen R. Covey
