Habits Of Successful Wildcatters: Dress For Success

Dress the way you want to be addressed.

OH, WHAT TO WEAR…WHAT TO WEAR???

Has the world gone mad?? Seriously, who wears pajama pants on an airplane? Who thinks it is okay to wear house shoes to the grocery store. What, in the name of Coco Chanel, is happening??

As society continues to lower the standards and expectations of public appearance, it seems many people insist on trying to crawl under the proverbial fashion limbo stick. As the saying goes, they have reached rock bottom and are starting to dig!

“Without saying a word, your clothes tell a story of who you are.”

Although important in a social setting, how one dresses in a business environment screams volumes. Whether consciously or subconsciously, we all form opinions about people simply based upon how they present themselves. Even though it might seem unfair, a person who puts no effort or pride into their appearance will run the risk of gaining a similar reputation on their work ethic.

As Mark Cuban says, “there is no sport as competitive as business.” Why would you possibly put yourself at a disadvantage on something as simple as dressing appropriately?

Also, unless you are a detective from Miami in an 80’s TV show, the two-day-old facial hair growth at the office just does not work! Again, it shows a lack of effort and pride. Is that the message you want to send to business associates?

So, do yourself a favor. Turn off ESPN a few minutes early in the morning, shave, grab some appropriate clothes (preferably off of a hanger instead of the dirty clothes hamper), then GET TO WORK!!

“Dress the way you want to be addressed.”
